A couple of days away helps to focus the mind
This last week I have been to Kent for a couple of days with the family, We have done the usual tourist stuff, had a day in Canterbury. Stayed in a pub just outside in a village called Chilham and then a trip on the Kent and East Sussex railway from Tenterden to Bodium and back. I can't say that we were overly lavish but when we are on holiday I try and leave the pauper behind and just enjoy ourselves.
I have no assosiation with any of the places we went and I have no financial interest in any, that said I would like to give you a small review on a few bits
First Canterbury, A lovely place to visit and if you have kids then there is a super playarea near the west gate park which is free and well kept.
We went to a little tearoom called Shelly's Tearoom in Chilham which I reviewed on Google by saying that it is the sort of little gem that you just don't get anymore
The place we stayed was the Woolpack Inn and the family room was superb, Food was good (maybe a little pricey, but not silly) and we would gladly stay there again.
Anyway I have got far from the point I'm trying to make, I am always pondering ideas and I find that being a way for a short holiday or even just a day out makes me focus on what's important. I'm not refering to family that goes without saying. I'm refering to life goals and achieveable aspirational dreams. I have this vision of our little semi-detached house fulfilling it's potential to become a beautiful semi-detatched cottage with the most productive and attractive kitchen garden, almost totally self sufficient in itself with a well for water, grey water recycling, Solar heating, Biogas prodution for winter cooking and a ground cooling system to keep us cool in the summer. There is a ridiculous amount of work to get there but where these goals are obscurded by daily life, our time in Kent has refocused my mind and I actually feel that just maybe a corner has been turned!!
Anyway I have included a couple of shots from Canterbury, for no other reason than the fact that I like them
